China will draft a law guaranteeing nuclear security in 2017, top legislator Zhang Dejiang said on Wednesday as he announced a host of forthcoming legislation mostly aimed at safeguarding and improving the country’s environment.
Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said in his annual report on the body’s work that it will strengthen laws and regulations concerning social, cultural and environmental issues.
In 2017, the NPC plans to enact a law for prevention and control of soil pollution and revise the Law on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution. It will also formulate an intelligence law and a law on international judicial assistance in criminal matters, and revise the Surveying and Mapping Law, Zhang said.
