The Qatar News Agency (QNA) website was hacked by an unknown entity on Wednesday, the Government Communication Office said in a statement.
A false statement published on the QNA website cited Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, Qatar’s emir, as calling Iran an "Islamic power" and stating that Qatar's relations with Israel were "good", which is opposite to Qatar's foreign policies.

The published statement has no basis and an investigation will be launched into the security breach, according to the Government Communication Office.
The remarks posted on QNA were reported by broadcasters in the region, and caused a stir on social media in the Gulf.
