A rational decision made by a calm, brave bus driver who was experiencing brake failure stopped his bus with minimal damage. Thanks to his quick thinking, no injuries were reported.
On Monday morning, around 8:30 a.m. local time, a bus in south China's Guangdong Province hit a residential building, but caused no harm to any residents.
It turned out that the bus driver, surnamed Chen, detected brake failure when he saw the alarm go off after seven passengers were waiting to board. With the brake gone, Chen tried his best to alert pedestrians. Still, a senior in front of the bus didn’t notice the situation.
He soon discovered that a wall at the end of the empty sidewalk could be leveraged to stop the bus, so he shouted, “Hold tight! We're about to hit a wall!”
“It was so close!” said Ms. Wang, who witnessed the whole situation from a store nearby. “If the bus had gone straight, there would've been many more people getting hurt!”
Thanks to Chen’s decisive action, no one – including Chen himself – got injured. Could you do any better?
