China Big Chill: Strong snowstorms hit central and eastern areas

Heavy snow continues to blanket central and eastern China. The national observatory upgraded its snowstorm warning to the second highest level. The Yellow Sea off Dalian, Liaoning Province is now covered with ice, affecting transportation. 10 to 20 centimeters of snow is expected in parts of Anhui, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shanghai and Zhejiang. Blizzards in some areas are expected to last more than three days. Residents have been told to stay inside. And authorities are directed to take precautions for roads, railways and electricity and telecommunications lines.
