Timeline of THAAD Deployment
[]
The deployment of the THAAD anti-missile system has been surrounded by controversy since the project was first announced over one year ago.

On July 13th, 2016, South Korea and the US revealed that Seongju would be the location for the deployment.

The US began to deploy the first part of the THAAD system on March 7th, 2017, a day after the DPRK fired four missiles.

However, the deployment was halted in June by the administration of new South Korean President Moon Jae-in, which wanted to make an environmental impact assessment.

But after the DPRK conducted another nuclear test on Sunday, the environmental ministry of South Korea conditionally approved the deployment of THAAD, removing the final administrative hurdle.
