Meanwhile the Olympic flame is nearing its final destination in Pyeongchang. Yesterday the torch relay visited the South Korean city of Chuncheon where it got to take a scenic ride on a hot air balloon.
Day 90 of the torch relay saw the flame leave the ground where it was next to a much bigger version of itself that was providing the hot air for the balloon. And another torchbearer received the Olympic flame in front of the iconic Statue of the Soyanggang Maid - a seven-metre tall bronze statue which was erected in 2005. The torch relay kicked off under the slogan 'Let Everyone Shine' on November 1st, 2017. As many as 7,500 torchbearers will cover a total distance of 2,018 kilometres through nine provinces and eight major cities across South Korea before the flame finally ignites the cauldron at the Pyeongchang Olympic Stadium.
