Czech President Milos Zeman arrived in Beijing on Friday to participate in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which will be held in the Chinese capital on May 14 and 15.
A total of 29 heads of state and government will attend the forum, the highest-profile international meeting on the Belt and Road since Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the initiative in 2013.
In an interview with CGTN on Monday, Zeman hailed the Belt and Road Initiative as the greatest infrastructure project in history. "I am glad to see that the Belt and Road Initiative, which connects China and Europe, also includes the Czech Republic," he said.
China and the Czech Republic signed a memorandum of understanding on the initiative in November 2015. The two countries also agreed last year to enhance bilateral cooperation in sectors including trade, infrastructure and transportation.
