China on Thursday launched a website to monitor copyright issues in a bid to crack down on piracy and better regulate online infringements.
Managed by the Copyright Monitoring Center, www.12426.cn provides identification, data analysis, early warning, security monitoring, and rights infringement solution services for registering copyright owners.

The technology the website utilizes allows dubious content to be quickly identified. Online terminals such as PCs, mobile APPs, live streaming platforms and smart TVs can be monitored around the clock, while an offline team works on rights infringements.
The website will not only serve copyright owners, but also provide technological support for Chinese authorities’ campaigns against online privacy, according to the Center.
The intellectual property rights (IPR) protection environment has changed remarkably in China, both from a legal perspective and in terms of technological application, said Yan Xiaohong, head of the Copyright Monitoring Center.
Because infringements are so diversified, protecting copyrights is difficult for individual owners, according to Wang Ziqiang, vice chairman of the Copyright Society of China. “Problems brought by technology should be solved by technology,” he added.
