The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) said Friday that the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of the United States and the Intelligence Service of the Republic of Korea (ROK) mounted an unsuccessful assassination attempt on its top leader Kim Jong Un involving bio-chemical weapons, according to its state media KCNA.
In a statement released on state media, the DPRK's Ministry of State Security said that one of its citizens had been "ideologically corrupted and bribed" in 2014, and was told last month to carry out the alleged assassination on Kim with a bio-chemical substance supplied by the CIA.
The ministry added that it would "ferret out and mercilessly destroy" the so-called "terrorists" in both the CIA and the South Korean intelligence agency.
