In India, female security personnel have been deployed at the country's presidential palace for the first time. Two female security officers have also been added to the detail responsible for President Pranab Mukherjee's personal security.
The President's Bodyguard (PBG), as it is known today, has been active in India since 1773, when it was known as the Governor's Troop of Moguls. The Regiment has held various other titles since then.
Local media reports that the new female personnel have all received special training and are able to tackle emergency situations.
