Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday met with his Ethiopian counterpart Workneh Gebeyehu, who was accompanying the country's Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn to participate in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing.
The two ministers spoke highly of the development of the relationship between the two countries, and agreed to enhance communications and coordination on bilateral and international affairs.
Both sides also agreed to share mutual support on issues related with each other’s core interests and major concerns, so as to uphold the common interests of the two countries as well as that of developing countries in general.
Prime Minister Desalegn arrived in Beijing earlier on Friday for the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which will be held in the Chinese capital on May 14 and 15.
China-Ethiopia relations have developed rapidly since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1970, with the bilateral relationship continuing to play an important role in South-South Cooperation.
