Back to Europe where Gennaro Gattuso was presented as the new coach of AC Milan. The 39 year-old former Italian international midfielder has been promoted from the coaching role with the 'AC Milan Primavera' side, the club's under-19 team, after Vincenzo Montella was sacked on Monday.
The move comes as something of a surprise, as Gattuso has had only modest success at managerial level so far, but he did lead Pisa to promotion from Serie B last season. It's hoped the former player can galvanise an expensively-assembled Milan squad. Gattuso made 387 appearances for the Rossoneri between 1999 and 2012, winning two Champions League titles, two Serie A titles and three domestic cup competition victories. He re-joined Milan in May this year and will now lead the first team as after a promising start to this season, defeats against the top contenders, Roma, Inter Milan, Juventus and Napoli resulted in Montella being given his pink slip.
