Over in the NBA, the Detroit Pistons hot start to the season is a distant memory. The team from Motown won 11 of their first 16 games, but have fallen off a cliff since, and have now dropped five straight games to fall out of the playoff picture in the East. Their latest setback coming to the Brooklyn Nets and former Pistons player Spencer Dinwiddie.
We pick things up in the final two minutes and the hosts down a pair, but Tobias Harris is able to saunter into the lane for a pair. 94-94. He had 20.
But the visitors are able to go back in front, the drive and kick -- and it is Dinwiddie that clutches up from outside the arc -- and it's a 3-point game. He finishes with 22.
Motown looking to tie, Avery Bradley misses the three-ball, but Stanley Johnson gets the acrobatic lay-in and we are knotted at 98 with about 30 seconds to go.
Nets now up 1, and the hosts looking to go in front, Andre Drummond with a reckless drive to the hoop, that goes off the window and in. 100-99 for the Pistons.
Still time for the Nets to go back in front, and the ball goes to Dinwiddie, who fakes, and double-clutches and makes the basket. 101-100 for the Nets, Detroit have no time-outs and can't get a good shot off. Brooklyn hold on for the win, as the Pistons have lost five straight.
In other games, Orlando handed Boston their third straight loss. The L.A. Lakers run their win streak to six after smashing New York by 20. And Victor Oladipo scored 25 points to help Indy put an end to San Antonio's 14-game home win streak.
