An art exhibition with pieces from ancient China and other countries along the Silk Road has kicked off at Shanghai's Art Collection Museum to mark China's Cultural Heritage Day on Saturday until June 25.
Artists from 10 countries have brought 120 artworks from ceramics to paintings. The exhibition promotes cultural heritage and China's contributions like Longquan celadon which was listed on Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.
"Longquan is a small city with very few people from outside and the green porcelain technique is usually passed from generation to generation within a family. I'm 34 years old and I'm among the youngest porcelain artists now," noted Tang Zongren an expert and artist of Longquan celadon.

Other artworks include Polish ink paintings, Austrian white porcelain, and Egyptian paper art paintings. Abdel Salam Eid, an Egyptian artist, said he tried to make his works express history through a modern platform.
"I take it from our traditional art, but I look through modern time, through the materials. You can see here I used many kinds of materials from daily life. This is a very important thing because it's a link from the past to the present," said Eid.
Representatives from 10 countries also gathered to discuss the contribution of cultural heritage in each country and exchanged art works with each other.
