Prime Minister Theresa May is scheduled to arrive in China Wednesday for her three-day state visit. Ahead of the trip, British business leader Barbara Judge said that China is now the UK's crucial trading partner in the process of globalization, especially when dealing with post-Brexit challenges.
BARBARA JUDGE, CHAIRMAN INSTITUTE OF DIRECTORS "After Brexit, Britain needs to look outside of its borders. It needs to find bilateral relationships. Of course, one of the most important relationships should be the UK and China. I think this trip will continue the golden era, as it was started in 2015. There are many business leaders that are coming with the prime minister, and they are coming with purposes and ideas, and with contracts in their pockets, to see if they can find a way or a partner here to do business."
May's delegation will reportedly sign over 100 trade and business deals during the trip. Judge said that she sees a lot of cooperation opportunities between China and the UK in manufacturing, services, innovation, energy and telecommunications. She also said that even though the UK can't make any new bilateral agreements until after the Brexit process is over, it's about time that the country should prepare for closer ties with other nations.
