Stretching 10 kilometers at an average incline of over 30 degrees, the bumpy roadway in north China’s Shanxi Province snakes through part of the Taihang Mountain area. /iFeng News Photo

To connect their community with the outside world, 800 villagers from then Fulanyan county ate and slept on the mountain for two years, using chisels, hammers and bare hands to fashion five deep culverts, with the highest and the lowest differing by over 200 meters. /iFeng News Photo
