New York University Shanghai (NYUSH) is the first joint China-US research university in China. Now its first batch of students is about to graduate this May.
As CGTN's Hu Nan reports, the creation of NYU Shanghai – set up with the East China Normal University - is a major step in China’s efforts at transnational education cooperation.
Diversity and global vision are part of the attractions for its students.

Hu Shuang, a global finance major, said she valued the diversified environment and clashes of thought from different cultures. “I feel like the multicultural education… later will be really beneficial for me to experience different perspectives” .

Another student from New York chose the campus in China after studying Mandarin for years.
“When I started to apply for colleges, I wanted to be a part of a university where I can not only be exposed to Chinese culture but also be a part of an international community here as well.”
One of the three NYU campuses worldwide, with some 900 students, NYU Shanghai says it has now gone from playing catch up with international educational trends, to leading the pack.
