Brazil confident in beef competition with US in Chinese market

The US is likely to soon begin exporting beef to China following the announcement of a new trade deal between the two countries. Brazil, the main beef supplier of China, shows confidence in the forthcoming competition, and stresses the difference in its products, CGTN’s Paulo Cabral reports from Sao Paulo. 

China's growing appetite for beef has made China Brazil's main buyer, and Brazil has become the biggest source of beef products for the Chinese market. 

However, a new player will soon join the competition for Chinese dinner tables. The US is set to start exporting beef to China in July. 

Most Brazilian cattle feed on grass and are hormone-free, two factors behind Brazil's success story in exporting beef to China, which enforces strict import rules. 

Most of the American production is based on using hormone growth in beef, Ceasar Alves, a beef market analyst told CGTN, noting there will not be a big impact on the market.
