Rescuers saved a man who fell through the ice of a frozen river on February 10 in the city of Cangzhou in north China's Hebei Province. Video captured by witnesses at the scene shows rescuers cautiously approaching a man who had fallen through the ice and into a river, before throwing him a rope. The closer the rescuers got to the man, the thinner the ice became. "He couldn't stand the chill and came close to death,” said Zhang Bohua, a witness. A police officer fell through the ice as he crawled towards the man. The rescuers pulled the police officer out of the icy water first. Finally, rescuers slid an inflatable raft towards the fallen man and successfully pulled him to safety.
