A car bomb went off near a police station in Ecuador, wounding at least 23 police officers. Authorities say it is a "terrorist" act. The attack took place in the country's north, in the border town of San Lorenzo near Colombia.
CARLOS BACA ATTORNEY GENERAL "These acts of organised crime, these acts of terrorism will not achieve their aim of frightening the state, which is strongly united to face down these types of attacks. We are going to investigate it and get to the bottom of it."
Authorities also say they are working with Colombia following a similar attack there, which also happened on Saturday. A bombing outside a police station in the coastal city of Barranquilla left at least five policemen dead and 42 others wounded. An investigation is underway to determine whether the two incidents are linked.
