Nineteen startup entrepreneurs from eight countries gathered at the Boao Forum For Asia in southern China's Hainan province to share experiences and discuss how startups might succeed in Asia.
Many entrepreneurs agree that it is a good time for startups in their countries. The founder of Chinese e-commerce platform Xiao Hongshu noted China is a big market with billions of potential users.
Asked whether these companies need a pan-Asian startup ecosystem, most participants said yes. But American investor Paul Bragiel noted more capital might help.
“I’d love to see a lot more small acquisitions... because the small companies acquired can bring their culture to a larger organization. Also what happens is... there's liquidity, there's more money that's put into the market,” said Paul Bragiel, founding partner of Bragiel Brothers.
