"As India rises on the global stage, the kind of relationship it has with China becomes the most important factor," C. Raja Mohan, director of think tank Carnegie India, told Dialogue with Yang Rui in a CGTN interview. "China is already a great power. China can contribute to India's rise on the world stage. But a conflict between India and China would limit India's international prospects. So finding a cooperative relationship between India and China is very important."

As for potential conflicts between China and India, Liu Youfa, former Chinese consul general in Mumbai, said they ought to be able to coexist peacefully.
"The Pacific is large enough not only for the US, India and China to live in peace side by side, but also has the potential for the three parties to work together, because it is for the common interest not only of the three countries, but for countries in the region and around the world," Liu said.
