The newest and most advanced US aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R. Ford, has been commissioned at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia. 

The warship will ensure America's global military prominence, said President Donald Trump while presided over the commissioning ceremony.

The 13-billion US dollar ship reaches a length of over 300 meters and a height of 76 meters. Initially scheduled for delivery in 2015, the USS Ford was delivered to the Navy in late May, after eight years of construction, development, and testing. It will go through more tests before becoming operational in the next few years.
