CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping is reminding members of the country's ruling Communist Party to keep an eye on any resurfacing excesses in the ranks. Speaking at the second plenary session of the 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC, Xi Jinping called for more intense anti-corruption efforts to fundamentally improve the party's political ecosystem.
Xi said China has entered a new era, and the CPC's leadership is a must for the country to advance its great cause, which demands for the deepening of the full and strict governance over the Party. Xi said while exercising strict governance, the Party will try its best to discover problems as early as possible, to prevent officials from making mistakes, and encourage them to actively perform their duties.
Xi required measures to address both the symptoms and root causes of corruption to secure a sweeping victory in the fight against corruption. The Party's internal supervision will function well with assistance from the public, promising smooth channels for ordinary people to advise on Party management and inform against misbehaving officials.
To maintain close ties with the people, Xi said Party officials should resolutely oppose privilege-seeking and work with and among the people, to resolve their pressing concerns. He said strict Party governance should be expanded to the grass roots level and work should be done together with the crackdown on gang crime to uproot both the gangs and the protective umbrellas above them.
