Samsung's new Galaxy S8 went on sale in stores in South Korea on Friday, as the company seeks to move on from last year's disastrous recall.
The Galaxy S8 and larger S8 plus, which were launched last month in New York, had more than one million pre-orders in South Korea alone.
It is the first major launch since Samsung withdrew the Galaxy Note 7 because of exploding batteries.
Although the company's reputation has also been hurt by the trial of Vice Chairman Lee Jae-Yong, who has been charged with bribery in a case connected to ousted president Park Geun-Hye, Samsung’s profits are rising and the new phones have received positive reviews.
