Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has arrived in Paris, for a meeting with French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace. Their meeting likely will address Syria, terrorism and trade. The strained ties between Turkey and European countries also is likely to be up for discussion. It is Erdogan's most significant trip to an EU state since the 2016 failed coup in Turkey, which led to a controversial mass crackdown. Macron has drawn criticism over his invitation to the Turkish strongman.
