Basketball Hall of Fame: Steve Nash, Jason Kidd headline nominees for class of 2018

More basketball now, as Steve Nash and Jason Kidd lead the first-year candidates for the Naismith Hall of Fame. The two point guards and former teammates in Phoenix are among the six players up to be enshrined. Ray Allen, Grant Hill, and the Detroit Pistons backcourt of Chauncey Billups, and Richard Hamilton who were part of an NBA title team in 2004 are also nominated. US college basketball coaches, Steve Fisher, who led the Fab Five to two national title games, and Bob Huggins are also being considered. WNBA stars Becky Hammon, now a San Antonio Spurs coach, leads the list of female nominees, along with Tina Thompson and Katie Smith. The class of 2018 will be unveiled in early April.
And speaking of hall-of-fame, that is former boxing great Bernard Hopkins.
He's taking in the game between the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers. DeMar Derozan giving the visitors the lead. Start of a big night for him.
But Dario Saric is able to get to the lane for a floater. The Croatian had 18 as the Sixers go in front.
Their star rookie, Ben Simmons extends the lead, getting into the lane in transition, he had a team-high 20, and it's an 8-point lead.
That increases to 20 points in the third quarter, Robert Covington spotting up from beyond the arc, and it's a 76-54 game.
The Dinos chip away at that margin, off another DeRozan longball -- the Drakes going on a 20-2 run to cutting the lead to four, and Philly needs a time-out to regroup.
Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot then dials long distance for the hosts, as they remain in front by six in the fourth.
The Raps though outscoring the hosts in the fourth, thanks to more jumpers from DeRozan, this jumper giving his team a 1-point lead. He finishes with a career 45 as Toronto holds on for a 114-109 win.
In other games, LeBron James scored 34 points as Cleveland won for the 19th time in 21 games, edging past Chicago 115-112. Michael Beasley scored 28 of his season-high 32 points in the second half as New York topped Boston. Phoenix was two points better than Memphis. And the game between San Antonio and Utah is not finished.
