The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced today that the country's special representative for Korean Peninsula affairs, Wu Dawei, will visit Japan.
Wu is set to exchange views with Japan on the deteriorating situation on the Korean Peninsula.
The foreign ministry said that China hopes to find a peaceful resolution to the nuclear issue.
Earlier this month, Wu met his South Korean counterpart, Kim Hong-kyun, to discuss denuclearization and the deployment of the THAAD anti-missile shield.
Wu previously worked as China's ambassador to Japan and chaired the fourth round of six-party talks.
