‍China's quarterly job report delivered a positive message, as Lu Aihong, the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, chaired a quarterly press conference on Tuesday.
According to the spokesperson, 3.34 million new jobs were created in the first quarter, representing a 160,000 year-on-year increase.
"China's job market posted a strong start this year and remained stable in the first quarter," said Lu.
Meanwhile, the urban unemployment rate from January to March fell to 3.97 percent, a 0.07 percentage point year-on-year decrease.
Re-employment has been ensured for 1.29 million unemployed workers, thanks to increased market demands for human resources, and 410,000 people who previously had difficulties in finding jobs have been employed, according to the job report.
Lu said some 500,000 unemployed workers left jobless due to overcapacity cuts in the coal and steel sectors are yet to be re-employed, and the government has issued relative documents to solve this issue.
