China: Kazakhstan's number one Belt and Road investor
[]
China has a considerable economic stake in Kazakhstan. Capital from China is flowing through the central Asian country as a gateway to invest in the wider region which has led to 43 billion US dollars in investment to Kazakhstan, more than any other country involved in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The two countries have also signed off on capacity cooperation deals worth 27 billion US dollars. China is a big buyer of Kazakh energy, and the two countries have built a pipeline that, over the past 11 years, has transported nearly 100 million tons of oil from Kazakhstan to China.
