Exploring Space: China launches new meteorological satellite
[]
China has launched a new meteorological satellite this morning from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center, in the northern province of Shanxi. Fengyun-3D entered orbit after being carried into space by a Long March-4C rocket. Fengyun-3D is one of China's second generation of Polar-Orbiting Meteorological Satellites. It provides global three dimensional all-weather and multi-spectral remote sensing images.
The satellite will work together with China's other meteorological satellites, to enhance the monitoring of greenhouse gases, while improving China's disaster relief work.
