A Chinese medical team is due to arrive in Yangon later on Monday to launch an action plan aimed at treating children in Myanmar suffering from congenital heart disease.
The first transnational trip of its kind, the project is being sponsored by the China Charity Association and Beijing Anzhen Hospital, and is organized by the Media Circle Charity Promotion Association (MCCPA).
The China Charity Association's action plan in Myanmar is aimed at implementing one of the main goals of the Belt and Road Initiative, as it looks to help Myanmar people share the achievements of the Belt and Road and to contribute to the enhancement of the friendly relationship between China and Myanmar.
Leader of the medical team Xu Yixuan, who is also chief executive of the MCCPA, said that the plan is to treat 50 Myanmar children suffering from congenital heart disease, with the Beijing Anzhen Hospital responsible for screening for the disease during the pre-and post-treatment period.
The Chinese medical team is scheduled to begin screening 50 Myanmar child patients with congenital heart disease at a children's hospital in Yankin township in Yangon on Tuesday.
