‍Peng Liyuan, the wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, led the partners of delegates and world leaders attending the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in a visit to the Palace Museum in Beijing on Monday.
Declared a World Heritage Site in 1987, the Palace Museum - the former home of China's emperors, also known as the Forbidden City - features a rich concentration of architecture and artifacts from the Ming and Qing imperial courts.
The visitors took a group photo in front of the Hall of Supreme Harmony, listened to a brief history of the Palace Museum and visited an exhibition featuring antiques associated with ancient trade routes.

Later, they enjoyed traditional Chinese artistic performances and an exhibition area displaying Beijing's intangible cultural heritage programs.
During the visit, Peng said China hoped friendly contacts between people of different countries would deliver more fruitful results in the future.
The visit came on the second and final day of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. The forum, attended by more than 1,500 delegates from over 130 nations, including 29 foreign heads of state and government leaders, was the most important meeting on the Belt and Road Initiative since Xi Jinping first raised the concept in 2013.
