Chinese employees who were left stranded in Dubai after their employer failed to pay their wages have returned to China with the help of the local Chinese consulate, news portal youth.cn reported on Saturday.
The story goes back to February when a group of 42 workers went on strike after a dispute over an injured employee's medical treatment. They were suspended by the Feidaying labor agency from their jobs at China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC)'s Silicon Park Project in the Emirate of Sharjah.
After their suspension, the workers did not receive their back pay and found themselves stranded in Dubai.

Their situation came to light in April. According to youth.cn, with the intervention of the Chinese Consulate-General in the Emirate of Dubai, the CSCEC helped pay the workers back and send them home.
The Feidaying labor agency is based in Hefei City in China's Anhui Province. The agency’s contract with the CSCEC was cancelled in March.
A total of 63 workers signed contracts with the labor agency. So far, 57 have returned to China, with six others postponing their journey home due to ongoing visa procedures, youth.cn said.
