The Chinese Academy of Science and the Chinese Academy of Engineering have confirmed the deaths of two of their most renowned scientists, Zhu Xianmo and Shen Zuyan. CAS member, Zhu Xianmo died in the city of Xi'an on Wednesday, aged 102. He dedicated his career to the preservation of soil in Northwestern China. On the same day, CAE member Shen Zuyan, a former vice president of Tongji University, died in Shanghai, aged 82. He was an expert in structural steel.
