South Korean conglomerate Lotte Group is preparing to transfer its golf club in the county of Seongju to make way for the deployment of the controversial THAAD missile defense system, South Korean broadcaster KBS reported.
KBS quoted South Korean defense ministry sources as saying Lotte Group's board of directors will meet on Monday to discuss the move. Lotte Group will formally sign a contract with the Defense Ministry on Tuesday. Lotte held a similar meeting in early February, but did not approve the land exchange deal at that time.
The country's Yonhap news agency also reported South Korea is expected to conclude the land acquisition for the US advanced missile defense system this week. Actual deployment should be complete by late June at the earliest.
