US President Donald Trump's speech on Tuesday to a joint session of Congress was intended to highlight the "State of the Union". But critics say it highlighted the "State of Division" within the country. Trump laid out his vision for a "new American moment" - that included a glimpse of his foreign policy agenda. Sean Callebs reports from Washington.
After one of the most politically polarizing years in US history - the man many view as the "Divider in Chief" used his State of the Union to say now, is the time to come together.

Donald Trump was presidential. He was glued to the teleprompter.
DONALD TRUMP US PRESIDENT "Under the current broken system, a single immigrant can bring in virtually unlimited numbers of distant relatives. Under our plan, we focus on the immediate family."
But Democrats are stuck on the way his administration has handled immigration, race relations - and his caustic tone on Twitter, and are not in a forgiving mood.
DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ US CONGRESSWOMAN "I was deeply disappointed that he spent a tremendous amount of time, again -with empty promises - with pandering and frankly giving a pretty hateful and divisive speech."
Trump mentioned China by name once. But, alluded to the nation a few times.
DONALD TRUMP US PRESIDENT "The era of economic surrender is over - from now on we expect trading relationships to be fair and to be reciprocal."
There are some 645-billion dollars in trade between China and the US, with the US having a 300-billion dollar deficit. Trump says he and Chinese President Xi Jinping have forged a friendship -- But whereas former US President Barack Obama called China a 'strategic partner'- Trump is now only referring to China as a 'rival'.
HUA CHUNYING CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESPERSON "It has been proven by both history and reality that cooperation is the only correct choice for China and the US to lead to a better future. We hope the US side abandons the cold war mentality and zero-sum game, to correctly view China-US relations."
SEAN CALLEBS WASHINGTON "Trump saved his harshest criticism for the DPRK. He called the DPRK leader an oppressive and cruel dictator --And in a move that will do nothing to ease tension on the Korean Peninsula, Trump said Pyongyang is reckless in its pursuit of nuclear weapons that could soon threaten the US homeland.
