California Abuse Case: Two parents held children prisoner, charged with torture
[]
Police in California have charged two parents with torture after 13 emaciated children were found in a home in Perris near Los Angeles. The children of David Allen and Louise Anna Turpin were found on Sunday after one child - a 17-year-old girl - escaped and contacted county police using a cellphone she found in the house. The victims are aged 2 to 29. They were found malnourished and some were chained to beds. California lists the father as the principal of the private Sandcastle Day school - with its address at their family home. The parents, who are being held on a 9 million dollar bail, are due in court on Thursday.
