Chinese home snooker star Ding Junhui and defending champion Judd Trump both won on the first day of the 2017 World Snooker China Open in Beijing on Monday.
Ding was docked the first frame due to an issue with a logo on his waistcoat, and Sean O'Sullivan soon won another frame to make a score of 2-0.

Ding, the champion of China Open in 2005, tied the game at 2-2 before a century of 123 points to get the upper hand on 3-2.
A turnover cost Ding the sixth round, but the world No. 6 showed no mercy in the next two frames, heading into the next round with a score of 5-3.

"My opponent played well tonight with a mental edge after the incident before the match, but I did better," Ding said after the game.
Jason Ferguson, Chairman of World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, talked about the logo issue after the game, saying, "We will find a solution before Ding plays his next match."

Defending champion Judd Trump from England made three centuries in his 5-0 victory over his rival, Jason Weston.
"I feel as if I have improved, while a lot of players have stayed still," said Trump, who has reached three ranking finals in the past few weeks.

"I'm going to get better every year as long as I keep working hard. I feel my consistency has reached a certain level and I don't think it can dip before the World Championship," added Trump.
