23-year-old Tibetan Yonten Sangbo has a different life compared to other young men his age. When he was six years old, his parents sent him to a Buddhist institute in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province. /CFP Photo

Thanks to Yonten's proficiency in Mandarin, he has been a prolific user of online shopping since early 2015. However, other Tibetan young people in the same Lama temple cannot read Chinese characters, so they turn to Yonten for help. For two years, Yonten has helped hundreds of people shop online at the temple, with the Buddhist institute now receiving deliveries almost on a daily basis. /CFP Photo

From clothing to electronics, Yonten's “shopping cart” features a wide range of goods. For him and his fellow lamas, online shopping has enabled them to get their hands on the latest must-have trainers. /CFP Photo

Yonten’s teacher expressed his surprise at how technology has changed the temple, saying ”temple life has changed a lot because of online shopping these two years.” /CFP Photo
