Wednesday is the 15th day of the eighth month on the Chinese lunar calendar --- which marks the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival.
Chinese families typically gather to eat moon cakes, participate in activities like lantern shows and riddle-solving and -- most importantly -- admire the full moon. From north to south, east to west, and from seashore to riverside, Chinese family members look up to the same full moon, symbolizing a moment of reunion, no matter how far apart they really are.
