China is willing to work with the US on a denuclearized Korean Peninsula, said Geng Shuang, spokesperson of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs at a press conference on Monday.
Geng made this remark after the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson recently said at a meeting of the UN Security Council that the US, ROK, Japan, China and Russia have articulated that denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is a common goal.

The Chinese side has noticed the relevant remarks made by Rex Tillerson and the determination of the US in achieving denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, said Geng. He also added that the message sent by the US in dealing with the issue through dialogue and negotiation is positive and relevant parties should take this message seriously.
“We hope that the US will strengthen contacts with the DPRK to build consensus and mutual trust. We are also willing to work with all relevant parties including the US to continue to make efforts in resolving the DPRK nuclear issue through peaceful dialogue and negotiation,” stressed the spokesperson.
