ISIl's second-in-command in Iraq, Ayad al-Jumaili, has reportedly been killed in an airstrike near Iraq's border with Syria, according to Iraqi media.
Jumaili was reported to have been killed with other senior ISIL commanders in a strike carried out by the Iraqi air force in the region of al-Qaim, near the border with Syria, on Saturday, a military intelligence source said.
Jumaili was an intelligence officer under former Iraqi president Saddam Hussein and more recently ran ISIL's top security agency in Iraq and Syria, answering directly to ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
However, the US-led coalition against ISIL has said it is unable to confirm the reports.
