Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak arrived in Beijing on Friday to participate in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which will be held in the Chinese capital on May 14 and 15.
29 heads of state and government will attend the forum, the highest-profile international meeting on the Belt and Road since Chinese President Xi Jinping put forward the initiative in 2013.
Najib's official visit to China reflects the close understanding between Malaysia and China in enhancing economic cooperation to boost growth in the two countries.
The strategic location of Malaysia has given the country an advantage in playing an important role in the Belt and Road Initiative. Najib says he is confident that “the people will be able to enjoy the benefits from more holistic connectivity and economic development".
