China says it wants to enhance its 'golden era' relations with Britain -- in particular, to open up markets to UK products.
China's e-commerce site Tmall International has announced the establishment of a procurement center in the UK. This will help thousands of British brands enter the Chinese market in the next three years.
The UK was ranked seventh in Tmall's ten largest importing countries in 2017, with nearly 800 household and luxury British brands ranking among favourites. China's upper-middle-class consumers are growing and their demand for British products and services are increasing. UK exports to China hit more than 22 billion dollars last year, increasing by nearly 20 percent. It also grew by 60 percent since 2010.
