A Chinese army veteran left stranded in India for 54 years after accidentally crossing the border has finally arrived back in his hometown in northwestern Shaanxi Province. Wang Qi said he was "tasked with building roads for the Chinese army" and was captured when he "strayed erroneously" into India's territory in January 1963. Until the media reported on his case recently, he had not been given the necessary documents to leave India. Shortly after his case received publicity, Wang was visited by Chinese diplomats, who told him efforts were being made to take him back. It is a reunion the 78-year-old’s family has waited more than half a century for. CGTN’s Ning Hong has the story from Xianyang.
