F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: Bottas earns third career victory with Yas Marina win
[]
We get our engines revving for the final race of the F-1 season, in Abu Dhabi. Things anticlimactic with the overall points championship wrapped up, as Lewis Hamilton claimed his fourth drivers title, and he and his Mercedes team already secured the constructors crown. His teammate Valtteri Bottas wanting to end the season on a high, and had the pole at the Yas Marina circuit, as he sought his third career checkered flag.
And they're off, with Bottas keeping his nose in front, as Hamilton is right on his tail, and so is the German Sebastian Vettel in his Ferrari.
Nico Hulkenberg would have his issues on this day as he goes wide on this turn, and has to get back on the track -- he gets a five-second penalty for that manouevre.
And his time in the pits doesn't help his cause, as his crew, are unable to get this back tire on, needing two attempts.
Daniel Ricciardo also has issues, a hydraulic failure means the Red Bull driver's day is done
Hamilton is looking for his tenth checkered flag of the year, but locks up his brakes and slides off course, before getting back in line, in his attempt to chase down teammate Bottas.
The Finn's lovely wife, Emilia looks on intently from the paddock as she cheers on her husband.
And the Mercedes man is able to power home, not really troubled as he makes his way to the finish line, claiming his third career victory in the process.
And leading a 1-2 finish for the Silver Arrows, the fourth time they've done that this season.
Former Mercedes driver, and last year's points champ Nico Rosberg, on hand to see race. After it was all said and done, Bottas gets a trophy, while Hamilton is honored with the overall driver's title, putting an end to a dominating season for Mercedes.
