Finland's agriculture and environment minister seeks closer China ties

In an interview with CGTN, Finland’s Minister of Agriculture and the Environment Kimmo Tiilikainen talked about the benefits of bilateral cooperation, saying that the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative will help strengthen‍ ties between China, Finland and the rest of Europe.
China and Finland already share deep economic ties in several areas, including environmental science, clean energy, technological innovation and Arctic research. 
In the interview, Tiilikainen elaborated on how China and Finland already have a good basis for cooperation in the field of environmental protection, such as air quality and water resources. When it comes to agriculture, the minister said authorities in both countries have worked together on food safety, opening up the food market between the two nations. 
Looking to the future, Tiilikainen expressed his hope that a new maritime transport route could be established between China and Finland, and spoke of the many opportunities brought about by cooperation between Finland and China.
