The city of Shanghai is never short of creative ideas, with its own interpretation of an urban lifestyle and cultural atmosphere, and Design Shanghai is one event where that aspect of the city comes alive.

Considered one of the world’s most prestigious international design events, Design Shanghai was unveiled at the Shanghai Exhibition Center on Monday, providing a platform for locals and tourists to experience the culture of contemporary art during the two-week-long event. 

As part of the event, outdoor displays of installation art in different forms can also be found in Xintiandi entertainment district, with tour buses stopping by at other museums and art centers all the way along between the main exhibition building and the district.

Approximately 60 famous designers and artists from both home and abroad are invited. And compared with the previous design exhibitions which mostly depended on brands, it aims to show the creativity of designers this time, according to Song Tao, the main curator.

As the concept of the event is to build a “Design City”, Shanghai won’t let you down in the celebration of design, craft and manufacturing.
