World leaders gathered for a group photo on Monday after the first round of the Leaders' Round-table Summit of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation at Yanqi Lake Resort in Beijing.
During the summit, heads of state, government leaders and heads of international organizations shared their insights on Belt and Road cooperation, working to reach consensus over concrete projects.
Chinese President Xi Jinping chaired the event and gave an opening speech. He highlighted several goals to achieve by setting the direction of development for win-win cooperation and enhancing the connectivity among countries through open market, policy coordination and people-to-people exchanges.
The two-day forum, attended by more than 1,500 delegates from over 130 nations, including 29 foreign heads of state and government leaders, is by far the most important meeting on the Belt and Road Initiative since the Chinese president first raised the concept in 2013.
